Age UK & Limbrick Wood Friendship Group

This friendship group for the over 50s meets on the second Friday morning of each month from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm.  The church has the responsibility of organising the group, with back-up and support from Age UK as and when it is required.

Over the last year we have had an average attendance of 15 people plus 8 church volunteers and 2 Age UK volunteer drivers.

Each meeting follows roughly the same pattern, beginning with refreshments and informal chat, followed by entertainment and finishing with further refreshments.

The entertainment has been varied to try and meet all tastes and has included various singing groups, a dancing demonstration by Stan and Yvonne (who hold a dance group at the church on Wednesday afternoons),  Easter card making, talks by those who work in our area, a quiz and puzzle morning and a visit from the Herbert Art Gallery, who brought interesting items on life in Britain since 1930.  This caused a lot of interaction and was much enjoyed.

We pray that this work will continue to meet older people’s needs, that friendships will be made and that the love and friendship of Jesus will be known.
